Tong Len Charity non-uniform day

Crawshaw will be holding another fundraising day for the Tong Len Charity in India on Friday 9th March. Crawshaw has supported Tong Len since 2006 and has raised thousands of pounds for this charity which helps provide opportunities for the children living in the community to have a good quality education. Tong Len believes this is one way to break the cycle of poverty.

Four international ambassadors from Crawshaw will be visiting the Tong Len Charity during the first week of the Easter holidays. As part of their visit to our partner school in the nearby town of Kangra.     Crawshaw International Ambassador Lyndarn Harrison from Year 13 said the following:-

"On Friday 30 March 2012, the Student International Ambassadors will be setting off to visit our partner school in India, the G.A.V. Public School. Whilst we are there we will be helping out in several classes, which will give us a great insight as to how the education system in India works. As the build-up to the trip continues we are in the process of raising money towards the nearby Tong Len charity in order to support children that are unable to get an education. For just £150 we will be able to sponsor one child to go to school for a whole year and as a group we aim to raise £600.  As a school, Crawshaw already sponsors one child named Rano who is 11 years old. On our visit to India we will, in fact, be visiting Rano and many other children at the Tong Len hostel in order to spend time with them and to learn what the hostel means to them. We believe this will give us a great insight into how important school is for the children. Without school many of the children would be working in the slums for little money and with no way of securing a brighter future. This is why we believe Tong Len is such an important charity as it gives the children a chance to gain qualifications to have a better quality of life."
