Welcome
Welcome to the Crawshaw School website. July 1st 2012 saw Crawshaw successfully become a converter Academy. This is following many months of consultation, discussion and consideration, not to mention a lot of hard work. The decision to convert to Academy status was our own and was taken secure the future success of the school, the continued achievement of the students and the professional development of staff. We are a school, and we will continue to identify ourselves as such.
However, the Governing Body which runs the school is now known as the Crawshaw Academy Trust. The Academy Trust incorporates the Governing Body as it was before the conversion and the changes which occur with Academy status are more around processes and the way that we are funded rather than people who attend / work here. This signifies the next stage of Crawshaw’s recent transformation and a continuation of our commitment to becoming an outstanding school which provides the best opportunities for all of our students and staff.
The Academy conversion follows a number of recent changes at Crawshaw. Notably, the school completed a part-rebuild and refurbishment project through the Building Schools for the Future programme in 2010, as well as acquiring Trust Status which has enabled us to establish formal partnerships with the Leeds United Foundation, Barnardo’s and Leeds Trinity University College. For more information about these two developments, visit the Facilities and Crawshaw Partnership Trust pages respectively in the About Us menu
These improvements have provided the backdrop to an interesting period at Crawshaw, which over the last four years has seen the school develop in terms of our students’ achievements and the school’s performance overall. We are proud of our examination results, which have been outstanding over the last five years. More details are available on the Exam Results page. In November 2010 the school was visited by Ofsted, who graded us as good. This is another achievement of which we are incredibly proud and the full report is available to download here. Crawshaw is a school where students can come to learn in a safe and welcoming environment, where every child is seen as an individual with huge potential. Our rapid success is due to: a relentless focus on offering lessons that engage all learners, effective care & guidance and working in close collaboration with parents, governors and the local community. We want our students to become life-long learners and good citizens as well as achieving academic success.
We hope that you find the website informative, intuitive and simple to navigate. However, if there is anything that you are not sure of, or you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or email. See our Contact Us page for full details.
